About Us
Resonate was formed in 2010 by two choral music educators who missed performing. This semi-professional octet rehearses once a week and performs in multiple concerts each year. They perform a variety of a cappella choral music. Consisting primarily of music educators, the members bring a wealth of musical experience. Since its inception, the group has gone through some membership changes. Our current members are listed below.
Sopranos
Anna McLeod
Anna McLeod has enjoyed singing soprano with Resonate since February of 2012. She is the Director of Choirs at Sumner Middle School. In her years of teaching, she has taught high school choir, middle school choir, and elementary general music and has a passion for teaching each level. As a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Anna graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education, with an emphasis in choral studies. Anna also completed her Level III Kodaly studies at Seattle Pacific University. Anna was a chorister, soloist, and section leader for international award winning ensemble, Choral Union of PLU. When she is not singing, teaching, conducting or performing, Anna loves spending time with her family and friends.

Laura Arnold
Laura became a member of Resonate in January 2014. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, she went to Wartburg College where she sang in the Wartburg Choir and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music Education with majors in music education and music therapy. Before coming to Washington in 2013, she lived in Alaska and Montana where she sang with the Alaska Chamber Singers and the Glacier Chorale & Chamber Singers and was involved in community theater. Laura has taught private piano and voice lessons, and currently teaches early childhood music. She lives in Maple Valley with her husband, Andy, and daughter, Katrina.

Jacqlyn Jackson
Jacqlyn has been singing with Resonate since 2015. Originally from Maple Valley, she was instructed by Ken Riggs in Chamber Choir and Jazz Choir. She then attended Brigham Young University-Idaho where she performed with Collegiate Singers and Vocal Union recording and touring domestically and internationally. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and Philosophy focused on educational psychology. Jacqlyn has performed as a soloist in productions of Handel’s Messiah, with swing big bands focusing on Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald’s songbook, and as a member of the Ensign Symphony and Chorus. She currently works at The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington and resides with her husband Andy (also a current member of Resonate) and their longhaired dachshund Luc in Bellevue, Washington.

Jan Nelson
Jan is enjoying her first season with Resonate in 2021. She holds a masters degree in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy from Central Washington University and a doctorate in Vocal Performance & Arts Administration from the University of Oregon. Jan has sung opera, oratorio, and choral works in the United States and Europe, and has premiered several new works as a featured artist with the Music Today Festival. She is currently on the music faculty at Highline College, in addition to teaching in her private voice studio and serving as the Chorale Director at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn. Jan resides in Kent with her two children, Cassidy and Mercury.

Michael Connolly
Michael has been performing with Resonate since 2014. He received his BA in Vocal Performance from Central Washington University. After graduating Michael was a finalist for the US Army’s Soldiers Chorus and Field Band, then pursued a career in Theatre in Seattle. Michael split his time between acting and singing in musical theatre productions, Sound Designing, and Stage Carpentry. Acting credits include Balagan’s Les Misérables (Grantaire), and Jerry Springer the Opera, and Seattle Children’s Dick Whittington. Sound Design credits include: Balagan’s Thankskilling (World Premier and NY run), and Arts West’s Angry Housewives, and Dogfight. Michael currently spends most of his time working as an electrician and control systems programmer for commercial audio-visual systems.

He holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from Kent State University, and has ten years of professional music experience as an educator, performer, recording musician, and arranger. Andy has performed in numerous operas and oratorio’s, and has toured nationally and internationally as a jazz vocalist. Currently, Andy enjoys teaching instrumental and choral music at The Overlake School, a college preparatory school in Redmond, Washington. He also owns a successful private studio, instructing students in voice, percussion, brass, and select string instruments. Andy also currently performs with Male Ensemble Northwest, which is comprised of choral educators and conductors from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Andy and his wife Jacqui (also a current member of Resonate) currently reside in Bellevue, Washington.

Ken Riggs
Ken is the co-founder of Resonate, and has been singing with the group since its inception in 2010. He has been the choir director at Tahoma High School in Maple Valley since 1996, where he also serves as District Music Coordinator. In addition to this, Ken is the Music Director at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. As a published composer with a varied catalog, his works have been performed and recorded throughout the U.S. as well as internationally. He holds a B.M. in Music Education and a M.M. in Choral Conducting, both from Central Washington University, and is active as both a clinician and performer. His wife is also a teacher, and their two children are musicians - one performing and teaching music, and the other in college and playing guitar.

Daniel Schreiner
Daniel is thrilled to be joining Resonate this year! Daniel received his B.M. in Music Education and M.M. in Choral Conducting from Central Washington University. He serves as the Music Director for ManeStage Theatre Company in Puyallup, WA and is the co-founder of envision studios LLC, a virtual ensemble production company. Daniel’s compositions are published with Santa Barbara Music Publishing and Walton Music as well as through his website, www.danielschreiner.com. In addition to Resonate, he also sings with the PLU Choral Union, Wellspring Ensemble, and Chor Anno. Daniel lives in Auburn and teaches K-5 music at Rock Creek Elementary School in Maple Valley.
